Dr. Fred Long is a Board Certified Optometrist. His extensive experience in the treatment of all vision disorders and diseases of the eye. He is well trained and has special interest in the management of diseases of the cornea, Glaucoma, Diabetic and Hypertensive Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, Keratinous, Cataracts, and refractive surgery including Lasik, PRK, Verisyse implants, and Clear Lens Exchanges. Dr. Long also has extensive experience with co-managing all types of eye surgeries. Dr. Long performs comprehensive eye health and vision examinations as well as contact lens fittings. He routinely fits soft, rigid gas permeable, multi-focal contact lenses as well as specialty lenses for keratoconic and post corneal transplant patients.
Dr. Long is a Marietta native who attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee earning his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1989. During his training, his rotations included one of the premier multi specialty referral centers in West Tennessee, the Memphis State University Health Center, and many area hospitals and convalescent centers.
Dr. Long Has served on the Advisory Board of the TLC Laser Eye Center in Atlanta and is a member of both the American Optometric Association and Georgia Optometric Association. Dr. Long is active in his local church and community, has many hobbies including woodworking and home repair, but mostly enjoys spending time with his family.
